An Anaconda man shot and killed Saturday was celebrating his 45th birthday at the time of his death. Authorities say Robert “Bob” Murlin Furman died from a shotgun blast.
His accused killer, 21-year-old Dylan Jess, faces a homicide charge.
Police said the shooting occurred early Saturday at a home at 1014 E. Fourth St., Anaconda. Furman and Jess apparently knew each other, said Chief Tim Barkell.
Officials have not divulged further information on the shooting. Details such as the relationship of the two men and what lead up to the shooting have yet to be released. An investigation into Furman’s death continues.
An obituary submitted to The Montana Standard says Furman, an outdoorsman with a talent for fixing cars, was loved by everyone who knew him.
“He would give you the shirt off of his back. Grant it, he would later nag about you having his shirt on but he would still give you it all over again,” the obituary reads.
