Assault with serious injury
Police responded Sunday night at 11:51 p.m. to a report of a male-female disturbance on the 900 block of Evans Avenue. They found a woman at a neighbor's apartment bleeding and badly bruised around the face. She told police that she had twice been prevented from leaving her apartment and had been knocked down and beaten repeatedly by Juan Ramon Garcia, 26, of Butte. She said he had also destroyed her phone to prevent her from calling 911.
Garcia was found in the area and arrested. He was charged with partner/family member assault causing serious bodily injury, a felony, with a misdemeanor charge of tampering with a communication device and with a probation violation stemming from an earlier partner/family member assault charge.
The victim was taken to St. James Hospital.
Probation check finds cash, drugs, paraphernalia
Butte police assisted in a probation/parole check on the 10 block of East Broadway last week and found drug sales paraphernalia including scales and baggies, more than $10,000 in cash, and about half a gram of suspected methamphetamine. They arrested Patrick Martin McCarthy, 39, of Butte. He was charged with probation violation, possession of dangerous drugs, possession of drug paraphernalia, and the use of property subject to forfeiture. The cash was confiscated.
Woman charged with partner assault
After responding to reports of a male-female disturbance at 7:50 p.m. Sunday on the 10 block of O'Neil Street, police arrested Kristina Rowland, 35, of Butte and charged her with misdemeanor partner/family member assault. The victim and witnesses said that the two had been drinking, and when a dispute developed, Rowland threw the male to the ground and punched him.
Storage-unit check turns up stolen 4-wheeler
An officer on the 1700 block of Longfellow on Sunday afternoon saw a man trying to push a 4-wheeler into a storage unit. The 4-wheeler, a 2006 Yamaha, turned out to be stolen, and police arrested Gary Rubusch, 39, of Butte, charging him with possession of stolen property. Rubusch was also wanted on outstanding contempt warrants in Butte City Court.
Police are seeking a warrant to search the rest of the storage unit.
