April 27, 1929-Nov. 24, 2017

William Francis Markovich, 88, of Butte Montana, left this earth peacefully, surrounded by his loved ones, on the morning of Friday, November 24th 2017.

His life began on April 27th, 1929 in Butte Montana, to John and Mary Markovich. Upon his birth, he joined one sibling, his beloved brother, Johnny. They would enjoy life together, usually causing mischief and trouble for their poor mother.

Bill attended elementary school at Sacred Heart and then attended high school at Boys Central. Bill’s first “job” was as a tinner for Butte Tin. He left that job to build on the business his own father had established and renamed the company Bill Markovich Construction. He and his brother John built many quality homes in Butte, many of which are still lived in today. With his partner, he developed the Executive Village. His son Bill joined the business in 1974, and together they built the Your Key Mini Storage Facility.

On, July 15, 1950 he married the love of his life, Patricia Margaret Shea (TeTe). Their love blessed them with four amazing children; Bill Jr., Patricia Lee, Peggy Jo, and Denis. Unfortunately, their unity was cut short and she preceded him on April 26, 1975.

Bill spent countless hours at the family cabin on the Big Hole River, enjoying hunting, fishing and just spending time with his family. He found great pride in his children and that was evident any time you asked him about one of them; his face would light up and the hugest smile would cross his face.

No one who met Bill would soon forget his infectious smile, glistening blue eyes, or his passion for work. Most conversations with him would eventually lead back to a previous job, or him offering his expertise on one of your own projects. He thoroughly enjoyed working and could retell stories from his childhood as if they were yesterday, and most of them highlighted his entrepreneur spirit. Whether it was selling milk, slinging a hammer, or installing electricity for the first time, he was not one that ever shied away from a hard day’s work, or a chance to retell his colorful tales. His grandkids could listen to his stories for hours and you knew you were always guaranteed a good laugh.

Bill was one of the lucky ones, and found love a second time with Peggy Richards. They were united in marriage on March 29th, 1982. She survives him, along with her two children, David and Aliesha Richards and Barb and Jeff Brown, and Barb’s children Meriah and Teal Taylor.

He is also survived by his children and their spouses, Bill and Sidni Markovich, Patti and Bob Burns, Peggy and Michael Habich, Denis Markovich and Linda Pautsch; his grandchildren, Bobby (Katrina), Jacey (Bill), Josh (Joanna), Corey (Kristi), Megan (Jason), Misty (Corey), Austin (Caroline), Tacey (Derek), and Jordyn; and his great grandchildren, Lliam, Keelie, Knox, Vanderbilt, Dagny, Kadynce, Cora, Madisyn, Emersyn. He will miss the addition of three more great grandchildren who are on their way. He is also survived by his sister-in-law, Donna (Bill) Thompson and numerous nephews, nieces and cherished friends.

He was preceded in death by his parents and brother, his dear sister-in-law Maureen Yelenich, and his nephew Gary Markovich.

We will miss you Dad, Gramps, Grandpa, and Grandfather. May you rest in peace. We love you.

Friends are asked to join the family on Thursday, November 30th after 10:00 a.m. at St. Ann’s Catholic Church. The Funeral Mass with be celebrated at 11:00 a.m. Please join Bill’s family and friends at the Finlen Hotel for a reception following the Mass.
