Raymond Tribelhorn

March 10, 1927-Feb. 28, 2018

The world has one less smile with the passing of Raymond Leslie Tribelhorn on February 28, 2018.

Ray was born to Christine and Jacob Tribelhorn on March 10, 1927 in Springfield, Massachusetts. He served in the U.S. Navy in 1945 at the Great Lakes Naval Station outside of Chicago, Illinois. Ray received his bachelor degree from Trinity College and a master’s degree from Rensselaer Polytechnic Institute. He worked as a Chemist for American Dye Company in Willimantic, Connecticut and then as a Metallurgical Engineer for Pratt and Whitney Aircraft in East Hartford, Connecticut.

Ray married his beloved Cynthia Clarke on June 14, 1952 who preceded him in death. Together they raised four children in Glastonbury, Connecticut.

He is survived by his older brother, William Tribelhorn (Rochester, NY); his children, Robert (Brenda) of Moscow, Idaho; Dwight (Donna) of Medford, Oregon; Lesly-Rae (Brian Grant) of Helena; and Kristin (John) Britt of Winner, South Dakota. He also leaves behind grandchildren Melissa, Maria, and Jacob Tribelhorn; Benjamin (Andrew), Elizabeth (Derek Simon), and Rebecca Tribelhorn; Julienne and Carly Grant; and Matthew (Alex), Samuel, and Abby Britt; and nieces and nephews in New York, New Hampshire, and Connecticut.

Ray was a kind and generous man. He was devoted to his wife of 63 years. They loved travelling (Switzerland 12 times!) and music and were involved in the Barbershop group at Trinity College, the choir at First Congregational Church in Glastonbury, the Butte Chorale and the Montana Tech Chorale in Butte. They followed their faith as active members of Congregational churches in Connecticut, First Methodist Church of Anaconda, and Saint Timothy's Memorial Chapel. Dad passed along his love of fishing to his children and grandchildren with memorable times on Millen Pond in New Hampshire and Georgetown Lake.
