Nov. 19, 1945-Jan. 5, 2018
It is with great sadness that Lawrence Joseph Jaeger, 72, passed away on Jan. 5, 2018 in the comfort of his home.
Larry was born Nov. 19, 1945, in Towner, North Dakota, to Frank and Doris Jaeger. He came to Butte after high school where he met and later married his soul mate, Louette (Blackwell) in 1966. That same year he was drafted into the U.S. Army and served for two years. He worked at Stauffer Chemical for 17 years. In 1981, he pursued his life-long dream of building his own successful business, Highland View Repair by only word of mouth and reputation for specialized welding and fabrication. He was respected by many for his skill and knowledge in all that he did. His ambition and love to expand his business led him to many auctions and new directions. He added heavy equipment; started container rentals; bought a crane truck to mention a few.
In the late 90’s, Larry found a new passion and direction for logging after building a beautiful log home. He loved accumulating big logs which resulted in him building his own log mill next to the shop. He turned in his welding hood for logs and later years was happiest spending time there.
Larry was truly a legend in his time, (they broke the mold with him). He was proud of working hard all his life and all of his many accomplishments.
Larry did everything with passion and drive even with his favorite past time of picking “gallons” of chokecherries for Lou to make jam.
He always had a smile on his face doing what he loved, working. He was known for his mischievous nature and famous nick names for friends and customers that came into the shop. His favorite saying was “What do you think of me now!!”
Larry fought a long hard battle with Parkinson’s disease that sadly changed his ambitious life forever. But he always said “there’s still a lot of work I want to do”.
Larry is survived by his wife of 51 years, Louette; daughter, Tiffany (Matt) Nystul; brother, Dennis (Kathi); sisters, Gail (Don) Yee, and Dianne (Marlin) Welstad; special grandchildren, Jake and Tyler; Jordan, Cayden and Kayleen; nephews, Michael Jaeger and Jeremy Jaeger and families; sister-in-law Lynda Jerrim; nephew TJ Thomas and family; nieces, Lisette McNamera and Maria Thomas; numerous aunts, uncles, cousins and many, many friends.
Larry was preceded in death by his parents, Frank and Doris Jaeger; his son, Paul; and several uncles, aunts and cousins.
A celebration of Larry’s life will be held at noon Jan. 20, 2018, in St. Ann’s Catholic Church. A further celebration of Larry’s life will be held following services. In lieu of flowers, a donation may be made to the Parkinson’s Research Foundation; Butte Animal Shelter or Pintler Pets in Anaconda. Arrangements under the direction of Duggan Dolan Mortuary, Butte, Montana.
Larry you are loved by all and your presence will be missed immeasurably. We are so thankful you are at peace and free of suffering and bet you are already back to working hard again!!
