Joseph Tully Obenhoff passed away on Feb. 11, 2018, in Butte after a courageous battle with cancer.
Joe was born Aug. 17, 1949, in Butte to Howard and Caroline (Micone) Obenhoff. He attended Catholic schools in Butte and later graduated from Great Falls Central High School. After graduation Joe pursued careers in banking, landscaping, dog training, underwater construction, and the airline industry working in various states.
He returned to Butte in 1986 with his son, Ryan. It was at that time Joe started Obenhoff Construction which he continued operating until the time of his death.
Shortly after returning to Butte he married Mary Shaw, a grade school classmate. Together they raised Joe's son, Ryan and Mary's children, Misty and Troy Shaw.
Joe loved spending time with his grandchildren, fishing, traveling, barbecuing for family and friends and Sunday spaghetti dinners.
Joe is survived by his wife, Mary; children, Ryan Obenhoff, Misty (Pete) Jaeger and Troy Shaw; grandchildren, Kaley, Karinne, Gabrielle, Reilly, Olivia, Tully and Sadie; his brother, Howard (Janie) Obenhoff; sisters, Holly (Kerry) Smith and Carol Ann Obenhoff; and best friend, Jesse Jaeger.
A celebration of Joe's life will be held from noon to 3 p.m. Thursday, Feb. 15, 2018, at The Springs (Vintage) Assisted Living Community Center, 300 Mount Highland Dr.
In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to Frontier Hospice, Butte, Montana or a charity of the donor’s choice.
