PLAINS — Gary was born Jan. 14, 1938 in Box Elder, to Arden and Kathleen Flansburg. He passed away due to prostate cancer, Oct. 12, 2013, at his home with family by his side.

Gary had various jobs during his life including farming, mechanic and logging. The last 17 years he delivered Meal on Wheels.

He enjoyed reading western novels, especially Louis L’Amour, watching western movies, playing his guitar and visiting with friends and family. He loved phone calls from family. He enjoyed telling jokes, drinking coffee with friends and playing pinochle.

Preceding Gary in death were his parents; sister, Bessie Taylor; brother, Leeman Flansburg; brother-in-law, Chris Hansen; stepson, Dick Von Olnhausen; and half-brothers, Daniel Flansburg, Cal Frazier and Stacy Frazier.

Surviving are his wife of 27 years, Stella Gibson Flansburg; children, Kimberly Archambeau of Kalispell, Tina Flansburg of Spokane, Wash., Gary (Helen) Knutson of Highlands Ranch, Colo., Gary Flansburg, Jr. of Richland, Wash., Freddie (Peggy) Flansburg, Kalispell, Kelly Larson of Billings; step-daughter, Edie (Gary) Nelson of Harrison; 11 grandchildren; six great-grandchildren; three step-grandchildren; five step-great-grandchildren; plus numerous cousins, nieces and nephews, especially his nephew, Michael (Diane) Flansburg of Post Falls, Idaho; half siblings, Deborah (Billy) Decelles, Sheila (Albert) Snell, Jeannie (James) Madril, Nedra (Buddy) Horn, Julie (Chuck) Lamebull, Audrey (Roy) Brown, Jim (Terri) Flansburg, Laurie Johnson, Arden (Wendy) Flansburg, and Lloyd Flansburg; brother-in-law, Chuck Taylor; and sister-in-law, Linda Flansburg.

In lieu of flowers, donations may be sent to Prostate Cancer of Sanders County in Thompson Falls, Hot Springs Volunteer Fire Dept., or Hospice of Sanders County.

A memorial service will be at 1 p.m. Saturday, Oct. 19, at the Sacred Heart Catholic Church in Hot Springs. Arrangements have been entrusted to Sunset Hills Funeral Homes, Plains and Thompson Falls.
