May 3, 1935-April 14, 2018

Ellen May LaBreche passed away April 14, 2018 at St. James Healthcare surrounded by her family. Ellen was a beloved wife, mother, grandmother, and friend.

Ellen was born May 3, 1935 in Seattle to Charlie and Nellie Parrott. Ellen attended local schools, graduating from Butte High in 1953. Ellen was married to her husband, Moon, for over 53 years. Ellen and Moon lived and raised their family in Butte. Ellen was employed as a checker at the local Buttrey and Safeway Grocery Stores. She then went to work in the auditor’s office at Butte-Silver Bow, where her love of politics began. She was a dedicated worker and loved to take her lunches at the local thrift stores where she would find her latest treasure.

Ellen worked hard during the week, but would find time every Saturday to garage sale and grocery shop with her mom, friend Marlyce Rask and then later, her pal, Aleesha. Ellen’s other passions included her gardening, politics, and enjoying time with her family and friends. One of Ellen’s greatest pleasures in life were her dogs. Ellen truly believed her dogs were family and if you disagreed you were in for a battle.

Ellen and her granddaughter Aleesha shared a very special bond. Aleesha was her “dolly.” This special bond started at a young age when she would babysit Aleesha. She would sit on the front porch swing singing her songs, but one in particular; “They will be coming around the mountain when they come.” Aleesha would go shopping with Ellen every Saturday. They loved to shop together. Her and Aleesha would wake up every Black Friday and be the first ones in line to get into the stores. As Aleesha grew older, they would have lunch or dinners and sit and talk about all their memories.

Ellen was one of the most kind and caring people around. She loved her family, friends and pets with everything she had and was loyal to fault; you always knew where you stood with Ellen. All that really knew her will dearly miss her.

Ellen was preceded in death by her parents, Charlie and Nellie Parrott; her husband, Moon; and sister, Betty Lou Waltee.

She is survived by her sons; Rick LaBreche, and Lee (Kim) LaBreche of Butte; grandchildren, Bill (Cindy) LaBreche of Jacksonville, Florida, Dr. Carli and Hersh Hoagland of Seattle, Washington, and Aleesha LaBreche of Butte; great-grandchildren, Shelby Thiel of Butte, Brooke and J.D. LaBreche of Butte, and Greg Hamaker of Anaconda; brother-in-law, Rich Waltee of Butte and numerous nieces and nephews, many friends and her special friend, Eileen LaBreche.
