Sept. 7, 1954-March 3, 2018
Curtis J. Renz, 63, was born Sept. 7, 1954 in Great Falls, Montana and passed unexpectedly March 3, 2018 in his own home in Libby, Montana.
His passing took our family off guard as it was just three short months ago that Curtis comforted us with his smile and reminiscing when his father, Bob Renz, passed away. At that time Curtis provided strength for his mother, Shirley Renz, and positive memories for us all. His eyes lit up as he heard the beauty of his daughter Carrie’s voice sing at his dad’s service.
Curtis grew up in Butte. His hobbies included hunting and anything outdoors. He rode motorcycles in the mountains with his buddies. He graduated from Butte High School and enlisted in the U.S. Army. He spent a short time at Fort Lewis and was honorably discharged in 1982 as Specialist 5.
His primary occupation was over the road truck driving. He covered the U.S. and hauled a variety of products.
However, when called to help, Curtis would return to Butte and help his father with many different construction projects. Even in recent months, Curtis was back in Butte to help with projects around the ranch.
In Libby, Curtis was logging. His free time was spent enjoying his boat and spending time on Flathead Lake and surrounding area. He looked forward to his sister, Pam, spending summer vacation time camping and boating.
Curtis was called to his Heavenly home to be reunited with those who preceded him in death; his sister, Deborah Claahsen; his granddaughter, Jeneca Sweet; his great niece, Katrina Cortez; his father, Bob Renz; and his grandparents.
His life is celebrated here by his daughters, Carrie Murdoch, Christa Hessler, and Jennifer; his mother, Shirley; two sisters; a brother; and numerous nieces and nephews.
Services will be held Saturday, March 10, 2018, at 11 a.m., with visitation one hour before at Duggan Dolan Mortuary. Entombment will be at Holy Cross Cemetery and a luncheon will follow at the Elk’s Lodge in Butte.
