June 23, 1949-March 3, 2018
Carol Johnson passed away at the age of 68 in Butte, Montana on Saturday, March 3, 2018 with her children and her mother by her side.
Carol was born in Billings, Montana to Glen and Elsie Tannehill on June 23, 1949. After graduating from Great Falls High School she attended Dahls Beauty College, obtaining her beautician certificate. After a short time working in the cosmetology field she realized her true calling was to help others. She began working at Silver Bow General Hospital, now known as St. James Hospital, initially working with the physically and mentally disabled, later becoming an Operating Room Technician.
Carol met John Johnson and the two married in 1978 in Butte, Montana. John’s career moved them to Kanakee, Illinois, shortly after their wedding. Carol and John had two children during their marriage before they decided to part ways, at which time Carol started her own business, Wee Count Day Care that she owned and operated for six years. She resumed her passion for caring for others while working at Lori Kanpp Crawford, Inc. in Prairie Du Chein, Wisconsin for eight years before moving back to Butte, Montana. While in Butte, Montana she continued her career of caring for others while working at A.W.A.R.E Inc. and volunteering for United Way before retiring.
Carol truly had a heart of gold and would do anything for anyone. She enjoyed spending time with her family, shopping, and caring for others.
She was preceded in death by her father, Glenn Tannehill; her stepfather, Pat Swendseid; and her sister-in-law, Darlene Tannehill.
She is survived by her mother, Elsie Swendseid; her children, Ryan (Rebecca) Johnson and Jennifer (Paul) Budde; her brothers, Robert (Rose) Tannehill, Jerry Tannehill, and James (Rebecca) Tannehill; and five grandchildren, Lexy, Lauryn, Lily, Cameron and Dominic.
In lieu of flowers, donations can be made in Carol’s name to the United Way.
