William "Bill" Raymond Malesich died suddenly July 14, 2011.
He was born at home in Dillon to Joe and Emma (Stefanatz) Malesich on Nov. 5, 1937. He was raised in the McQueen Addition of Butte. Bill graduated from Franklin Grade School in 1951 and from Butte High School in 1955. He joined the Navy after high school, serving aboard the aircraft carrier USS Essex. As Bill tells it, "I got to see the world enjoying life as a sailor," including a trip around the tip of South America, the Far East and Europe.
Bill married Lavenia R. Petrin in 1959. From this marriage three children were born. They later divorced.
Bill worked for the railroad, then drove truck for Consolidated Freightways for many years. After retiring from Consolidated, he drove charter buses in Washington and Montana - a job that he thoroughly enjoyed. Bill moved to Livingston in 2004, living with his companion, Dixie Bullock, who survives him.
He is also survived by his son and daughter-in-law, Bill and Kindra Malesich Jr. of Selah, Wash.; daughter and son-in-law, Carol Ann and Dan Hookham of Colville, Wash.; eight grand-children; and one great-grandson.
Bill Sr. wrote this obituary and per his request, there will be no services.
