Taking the kids to school or getting to work around 8 a.m. Tuesday was a contact sport in Butte.

Butte-Silver Bow police reported six accidents — one a hit-and-run — in half an hour, between 7:52 a.m. and 8:21 a.m.

The temperature dropped to 25 degrees overnight, and it had warmed up only a degree by 8 a.m. Roads were snowy and icy.

The Montana Highway Patrol also reported numerous slide-offs Tuesday morning.

No one was seriously injured in any of the accidents, police said.

The hit-and-run occurred at Rowe Road and Hobson Avenue, where a Montana Department of Transportation truck was struck by an unknown vehicle, police said.
