A Butte man died and three other people were injured over the weekend in a two-vehicle crash north of Casper, Wyo.

According to the Wyoming Highway Patrol, Daniel L. Barto, 27, was driving a Ford F150 pulling a trailer southbound on Interstate 25 on Saturday when a southbound Chevrolet Cruz rear-ended the trailer.

Barto lost control of the Ford and it rolled across the median and into the northbound lanes of I-25 about 26 miles north of Casper, the patrol said.

Barto, who was wearing a seatbelt, died at the scene. Jennifer Barto, 30, and also from Butte, was taken to the Wyoming Medical Center in Casper to be treated for injuries while two young children, ages 1 and 2, who were passengers were treated and released from the same hospital.

The Chevrolet's driver, 27-year-old Ryan Nordstron, from Mowhawk, Mich., was not injured, the highway patrol said.

A news release from the Sgt. Stephen Townsend said that troopers plan to finish the investigation and then hand over information to the Natrona County District Attorney's office, which will determine if any criminal charges will be filed.
