The 13-year-old boy killed in a shooting incident Saturday in Eastern Montana has been identified as Ryhan Riley Schmidt, formerly of Butte and Anaconda.

Family members placed an obituary in today's Montana Standard for the boy, whose funeral services begin at 5 p.m. Saturday at the Church on the Rock, 300 Holmes Ave., Butte.

Fallon County Attorney Rich Batterman had declined to release the boy's name, pending notification of relatives.

The investigation is continuing. Batterman said the shooting is being handled as a criminal matter, but he declined to release further information earlier this week other than to say that no arrest has been made.

Baker police were called to the

victim's home in Baker by family

members about 10:30 a.m. Saturday, Batterman said. Police found the teen inside the home with a single gunshot wound to the head. The victim was transported to a local hospital where he was pronounced dead.

Batterman said investigators

recovered a firearm that they suspect was used in the shooting.
