Trumpeter swans released near Ennis

Workers from the Montana Department of Fish Wildlife and Parks, in conjunction with NorthWestern Energy, release two trumpeter swans at the O’Dell Creek wetlands south of Ennis, earlier this month. The state coordinated the release of four juvenile trumpeter swans as part of a multi-year program involving NorthWestern Energy to increase the number of breeding pairs of trumpeter swans in suitable habitats. As part of NorthWestern’s efforts to support wildlife conservation efforts, the company has also focused on the restoration of 600 acres of wetland and 12 miles of creek habitat along O’Dell Creek, a tributary of the Madison River.
