ANACONDA – A 23-year-old Anaconda man appeared Wednesday in district court and denied raping a then-14-year-old girl two months ago near Washoe Park.

Brandon Anthony Krankowski pleaded not guilty to felony sexual intercourse without consent. He remains in jail on $50,000 bond.

Court documents allege Krankowski met the girl, now 15, in July and they began exchanging numerous text messages and phone calls.

On Aug. 2, he met her at Washoe Park and led her to a cave on the hill where they had sexual intercourse, she told investigators. Though she tried to tell Krankowski “no,” she “couldn’t say it very loud or forcefully,” according to the same documents.

Krankowski denied having sexual intercourse with the girl in two separate interviews with investigators. He was arrested Oct. 1.

A pretrial hearing is scheduled for 10 a.m. Oct. 31.
