A Butte man allegedly threatened a woman and a police officer with a sword Wednesday.
Christopher Thomas, 32, faces felony charges of assault on a peace officer and assault with a weapon, according to charging documents in Butte justice court.
Police were called to a disturbance at a residence in the 400 block of West Quartz Street about 4 a.m.
Thomas is accused of standing over a woman in the home and threatening to kill her with a sword, court papers allege.
As police were attempting to arrest Thomas, he allegedly swung the sword at the head of officer John Christie.
The officer wasn’t hit, and Thomas was arrested.
Thomas also was charged with misdemeanor counts of partner or family member assault, tampering with a communication device for allegedly damaging a phone, and endangering the welfare of children.
Justice Ben Pezdark set Thomas’ bond at $50,000 and remanded him to jail.
