From left, Prince Siboniso Zulu (Prince Sbo), Nkokhelo Msomi, and Mokai Malope, all of Nongoma, South Africa, arrive to much fanfare at Bert Mooney Airport in Butte Friday afternoon where about 30 DJ’s from Butte community radio station KBMF waited to welcome them. The three Zulus represent Nongoma FM, a radio station in Nongoma, South Africa, and are visiting Butte until August after striking up a friendship online with KBMF music director Dark Sevier and KBMF general manager Clark Grant and other DJ’s at the station. Msomi is a news presenter and Malope a financial consultant for Nongoma FM. Prince Sbo said this was his first time in the U.S. and called the warm reception they received “amazing” and “very great.” The South Africans performed a traditional dance once they entered the airport. A Los Angeles film crew from a documentary film company, Interesting Human Media, was on hand to film the South Africans’ arrival to Butte. The film company is making a documentary on the Zulus coming to spend the summer in Butte.
