OVANDO — Cowboy Claus returns for the 15th straight year to the Ovando Old West Christmas Fest from 10 a.m. to 3 p.m. Saturday, Dec. 3, in Ovando.
A cousin of Santa Claus, Cowboy Claus arrives every year aboard his trusty horse Nick. To celebrate his arrival, one day a year the town of Ovando steps back 150 years to the Old West with horse-drawn wagon rides through town, axe throwing contests with Too Tall Tom, gingerbread house making in the fire hall, cook-off competitions, and a kids “Snowdeo” (snow rodeo: kids ride stick reindeer and barrel race around candy canes) along with face painting. In addition, holiday crafts will be offered up at the Blackfoot Community Church.
In addition, the Blackfoot Cattlewomen will be hosting the annual “Bite of Ovando” cook-off and a judging of the best meatballs made by local culinary hotshots. Also, local artisans will be showing their wares of jewelry, wood crafts, and books throughout town. Details: Kathy 406-793-0018.
