The semi-finals of the Mining City Star competition start at 4 p.m. Saturday, Nov. 16, in the Copper King Inn.
Organizer Patty Clements said 30 people are competing in annual contest, which features all genres of singing. Seven youngsters are competing in the newly established 13-and-under category.
“Turnout was incredible this year,” said Clements.
Winners on Saturday will advance to the finals at 4 p.m. Saturday, Dec. 21, at the Copper King Inn.
On Saturday, the under-13 kids starts at 4 p.m. with a single song each. The 14-and-over category begins directly after performing two songs with costume changes.
Tickets are $6 at the door. Kids 12 and under are free the event will run for about four hours with a few brief intermissions. An audience vote counts for part of the score.
“We encourage the community to come out and see the incredible talent from all over Southwest Montana … and vote for your favorites,” she said.
The contestants, gleaned from several weeks of tryouts in various venues in Butte, Dillon, Sheridan and Whitehall, follow:
13-and-under — Taylor Little, Ellie Boothe, Katalena West, Caitlyn Galiger, Marijayne Grogan, Emilee Matthews and Zoe Myers.
14-and-over — Amanda Leece, Alison Griebenow, Shanell McCracken, Bobby Vick, Lily Jensen, Dana Burnet, Samara Burnet, Shiela Makowski, Shannon Abad, Kaylee Eldred, Ciara Rehbein, Tiffiny Kamps, Lexis Clements, Angela Bolton, Arlette Clements, Samantha Padilla, Kelly Sullivan, Mellissa Meek, Gary Carlson, Diana Karnes, Annie Ori, Jesse Rowe, Ronald Gabriel, Jenna McMullen, Patrick Johnson, Montanna Smith, Ashlee Hunt, Kristen Kelley, Juliet Hollifield, Patricia Wamsley, and Kaselin Hancock.
The emcee is Darlene Battaiola, owner of Butte Academy of Beauty Culture.
