Search and recuse workers recovered the body of a missing 34-year-old Butte woman near Little Basin Creek Road on Wednesday.
The woman was reported missing around 1:30 a.m. Wednesday, after she left a residence on the 500 block of Elkhorn Lane, the Butte-Silver Bow Sheriff’s office said in a news release.
Elkhorn Lane is located off of Little Basin Creek Road, southwest of Butte.
The sheriff’s office said the woman walked from the residence around 10:20 p.m. Tuesday. Butte police were contacted after friends and relatives were unable to locate her after searching the area.
Police and search and rescue workers discovered the woman’s body around 11 a.m., approximately 2.5 miles from the residence where she was last seen.
The death appears to be the result of hypothermia, but the investigation into the incident continues, the news release said.
The name of the female has not been released, pending notification of family members.
