Stolen ATV recovered

Police say an officer was patrolling around 3 a.m., Friday, in the area of Aluminum and Montana Streets when he or she spotted two motorists driving a motorcycle and four-wheeler, respectively. The motorcycle had no plates and a non-functional tail light, but when the officer attempted to pull the two over, the motorcycle driver took off and only the driver on the ATV remained.

Police said the officer ran the ATV’s vehicle identification number and learned that the vehicle was reported stolen in 2016. The driver, John Bachman, 43, was placed under arrest and later cited with buying or being in the possession of stolen property.

Stolen car recovered

Police responded to 1800 block of Texas Avenue late Friday night in response to a call about a suspicious vehicle.

Police said the vehicle’s license plate number revealed that the car had been reported stolen.

Officers later apprehended the vehicle’s occupants at a casino-gas station on the 1300 block of Harrison Avenue. There they arrested the passenger, Justina Chilcote, 29, of Butte, and the driver, Christopher Westom, 48, of Butte. Both have been cited with felony possession of stolen pottery, along with a host of drug-related offenses for drug paraphernalia and a box of suspected methamphetamine allegedly found in their possession at the time of their arrest.

Underage drinking results in DUI

Police say they arrested Samara Brunet, 19, of Whitehall early Saturday morning after the 19-year-old was allegedly driving under the influence.

Officers patrolling in the area of Second and Main Streets pulled over Brunet’s vehicle after the Whitehall resident drove in the center turn lane and failed to stop at a stop sign, police said.

Inside officers observed two 17-year-old female passengers, an 18-year-old female passenger and a 19-year-old female passenger, who were all cited with alcohol possession after allegedly testing positive on a breath test.

Brunet was taken to Butte county jail where police say she failed a field sobriety test and blew over the legal limit on a Breathalyzer. As a result, the 19-year-old was cited with a misdemeanor DUI.

Dangerous drugs

Officers arrested Daniel Norris, 39, of Butte early Sunday morning for possession of dangerous drugs, police said.

Officer responded to a hotel on the 2100 block of Cornell Avenue after employees at the facility reported that Norris was sleeping in the lobby. When officers arrived, police said, they discovered that the 39-year-old had been reported as an absconder from parole and probation. They placed him under arrested, and during a search allegedly discovered that the 39-year-old was in possession of several syringes and a baggie containing a small amount of marijuana.

Norris has been cited with a probation violation, along with possession of dangerous drugs and possession of drug paraphernalia, both misdemeanors.

Drug possession

Police responded Sunday afternoon to Walmart on Harrison Avenue to a report of potential shoplifters in the store.

When officers arrived, one of the suspected shoplifters had left the store but the other suspected shoplifter remained.

Police approached the suspected shoplifter, James Green, 30, of Missoula, who did not have any stolen items in his possession.

Police said Green initially gave officers a false name, but after discovering his real identity and two warrants out for his arrest out of Missoula County, officers placed him under arrest. During the arrest, officers allegedly discovered several syringes containing a dark liquid substance and a metal container containing cotton balls in his possession.

In addition to being cited for obstructing a peace officer for giving a fake name, Green has also been cited with felony possession of dangerous drugs and misdemeanor possession of drug paraphernalia.

Partner, family-member assault

Police say they arrested Michael Brown, 37, of Ramsay after family members allegedly told officers he was out of control and that they were afraid of him.

Officers responded to the family’s residence on the 10 block of Laird Street in Ramsay shortly after midnight.

As of Monday morning, Brown remained in Butte county jail, where he faces two charges of partner, family-member assault, reasonable apprehension.

Marijuana results in drug charge

After responding to an unrelated call, police say they stopped Ryan Lansing, 28, of Butte around 9 p.m., Monday, as he sat in his vehicle parked in the lot of Kmart on Harrison Avenue.

As officers were interviewing Lansing, they could allegedly smell marijuana emanating from his car. Police said a search of the vehicle and Lansing’s body revealed a vessel containing marijuana, along with a glass pipe.

Lansing was taken to Butte county jail, where he was cited with misdemeanor drug possession and possession of drug paraphernalia, along with a misdemeanor for driving without insurance.

Drug charges

Police say they were patroling around 10 p.m., Monday, in the area of Grand and Harrison Avenues when they spotted a suspicious vehicle parked behind a business.

After approaching the vehicle, police said, officers interviewed a female passenger and the driver, Luke Guccione, 37, of Butte. Police also interviewed Patrick Godat, 43, who approached the vehicle on foot during the traffic stop.

During the interview, police said, officers could allegedly observe within plain view a baggie on the dashboard obtaining a number of pills. Upon inspection, the pills were revealed to be Schedule IV narcotics.

Both Guccione and Godat were arrested at the scene. Guccione faces two charges of felony possession of dangerous drugs, while Godat was cited with two criminal contempt charges for failing to appear in city court.

The female passenger was not arrested, police said.
