DUI refusal

Police said officers pulled over a vehicle around 2 a.m. on the corner of Park and Alabama streets after its driver allegedly failed to stop at a stop sign.

Police said the driver, Taggart Sullivan, 20, of Butte appeared to be intoxicated, so officers administered a field sobriety test, which the 20-year old allegedly failed. He was taken to Butte county jail, where officers administered another test, which he also allegedly failed. Police said Tagger refused to take a Breathalyzer and was thus cited with a DUI refusal, a misdemeanor.

Assault with a weapon

Police responded around 12:30 a.m. Thursday to the 100 block of Broadway Street in response to a call about an unruly client at a mental health facility. According to the caller, the client had allegedly threatened another client with a butter knife.

Officers located the man, Alex Osier, 20, of Butte, walking on Main Street and arrested him. He was taken to Butte county jail, where he was cited with felony assault with a weapon and misdemeanor shoplifting. Osier had a warrant out for his arrest for a second or subsequent offense of shoplifting, resulting in the later charge, police said.

Resisting arrest

Todd Tonkin, 43, of Butte was arrested for resisting arrest early Thursday morning after he allegedly failed to follow an officer’s orders.

Police said they received a call about Tonkin around 5 a.m. from an employee at the temporary homeless shelter on the 300 block of North Main Street. According to the complainant, Tonkin had spit on the walls of the facility, dumped food on to the floor, and had shoved an employee.

When an officer arrived, police said, Tonkin did not respond right away to the officer’s inquiries until at last he asked her if she “wanted to lose everything.” Tonkin allegedly walked away from the officer despite being told multiple times to stop. Eventually, police said, the 43-year-old was arrested for resisting arrest.

Tonkin remained in Butte county jail as of Monday morning, where he has been cited with a misdemeanor.
