Assault with weapon,
aggravated burglary

Police arrested Robert Varady, 43, of Butte, for two felonies, assault with a weapon and aggravated burglary, and two misdemeanors, possession of drug paraphernalia and an outstanding Montana Highway Patrol warrant, at about 2:30 a.m. Wednesday in the 600 block of West Broadway.

Varady allegedly entered the male victim’s residence unlawfully and woke him with a shovel in hand screaming at the victim. The victim was able to wrestle the shovel away from Varady before officers arrived, according to police. During the arrest, police found a silver pipe on Varady believed to be a marijuana pipe.

Partner-family member assault

Police arrested Joseph Munroe, 25, of Butte, for a misdemeanor count of Partner-Family Member Assault at about 10:15 p.m. Tuesday in the 500 block of West Granite Street.

According to police, a female victim arrived at the station and reported that a male threw her and her child from a residence. The child was not injured but the female victim had bruising on her arms, police said. Police then went to the residence and arrested Munroe, who also had an outstanding Montana Highway Patrol warrant for his arrest.
