Justice Eckert, 21, of Redmond, Oregon, pleaded not guilty Monday to attempted deliberate homicide in Anaconda district court.
Eckert is accused of stabbing a man after a fight transpired between the two in the early morning hours of July 23 outside Carmel's Sports Bar & Grill on East Third Street in Anaconda.
In July, Police Chief Tim Barkell told The Montana Standard that the victim, who survived the incident, left the scene before police arrived and was driven by a family member to Community Hospital of Anaconda, where he allegedly identified Eckert as his attacker.
The victim, who has not been identified, was treated for several stab wounds, including on the side of his body and one to his chest. Later that day, he was airlifted to a hospital in Missoula, where he underwent surgery on his wounds.
A $100,000 bond was paid for Eckert’s release Monday and his next hearing was scheduled for Sept. 20. He’s being represented by attorneys from Knight & Dahood of Anaconda.
