A man who was cuffed following a court hearing Thursday bolted from the Butte-Silver Bow courthouse but only made it two blocks before police caught him.
Adam Mitchell Price had waived extradition on a warrant out of Idaho and, after appearing before District Judge Kurt Krueger, was ordered into the custody of Butte police.
But just after his hands were cuffed, he bolted from the courtroom on the third floor and made it outside, Sheriff Ed Lester said.
He got to about Quartz and Main and it appeared that a relative or friend was trying to coax him back to the courthouse when officers apprehended him.
Mitchell made an initial appearance on the Idaho warrant last month but was released on his own recognizance pending Thursday’s hearing. Now he faces an additional escape charge.
“He compounded his interest,” Lester said.
