The Beaverhead County Sheriff’s Office and others are searching for an area man missing from the Sugarloaf Mountain Road area near Glen, 22 miles north of Dillon, according to a news release sent Tuesday from Sheriff Frank Kluesner.
Calvin Charles Zimdars, a 56-year-old white male, was reported missing by family members on Friday night.
Beaverhead Search and Rescue and the Sheriff’s Office on Tuesday were in day four of search operations, Kluesner said. Several K-9 teams were deployed to supplement the ground operation that has been in service.
A comprehensive missing person flyer provided by the family is available at the Beaverhead County Sheriff’s Office Facebook page and also with this story at www.mtstandard.com. The flyer includes current photographs of Zimdars.
Zimdars was last seen on Thursday. Circumstantial information indicates that Zimdars may be despondent and may be at risk of "self-harm.'' His motor vehicles have all been accounted for at his residence, the sheriff said.
The poster says Zimdars is 5-7 tall, weighs 170 pounds and has black and gray hair. He was last seen wearing western apparel, including a large belt buckle with Wrangler jeans. Zimdars may have gone hiking into the hills around his home. He is familiar with the terrain there and in the Grasshopper Valley area. Zimdars spent many decades, hunting, fishing, hiking and working cattle in the Glen and Grasshopper Valley areas.
The Search and Rescue command post is located on Sugarloaf Mountain Road. Persons entering the search area or wanting to assist are asked to check in at the command post first.
People are asked to direct information or inquiries to the sheriff’s office at 406-683-3700.
