Montana ranked 3rd in preseason FCS coaches' poll MISSOULA (AP) — The University of Montana is ranked third in the preseason Football Championship Subdivision coaches' poll.

Appalachian State is ranked first with 13 first-place votes and 665 points, followed by defending national champion Richmond with 10 first-place votes and 660 points. Montana is third with 623 points.

Weber State is ranked ninth and Eastern Washington is 17th. Northern Arizona and Montana State also received votes.

MSU season tickets sold out BOZEMAN (AP) — Montana State has sold out of 2009 season football tickets.

Athletics director Peter Fields says tickets for all of this fall's individual games, except for the Cat-Griz game, go on sale Tuesday at 10 a.m.

Tickets are available at the Bobcat Ticket Office or by calling 994-2287.

Montana State's home opener is Sept. 12 against Dixie State.

Reno commits to UM volleyball MISSOULA (AP) — Kayla Reno, an outside hitter from Graham, Wash., has committed to play volleyball at the University of Montana.

Reno is a 5-foot-11 outside hitter who earned first team all-conference honors as a junior at Graham Kapowsin High School.

She says she chose Montana over other colleges because of its academics, team chemistry, coaching staff and the support the community has for the university.
