HAVRE (AP) — Montana State-Northern football coach Mark Samson has announced his initial signees for the 2005 football season, including Anaconda's Ryan Eamon along with Montana State transfer Zach Wermers of Bozeman and Mason Ophus of Big Sandy, who signed with MSU last winter but left the team.
Wermers is a running back and Ophus is a defensive end and tight end.
Also signing with the Lights are: Hardin wide receiver Mike Chavez; Valier linebacker and strong safety Ryne Nelson and offensive lineman Todd Erving of Marshall, Texas.
Also: defensive linemen Jeremy Kjelsrud of Belgrade and James O'Neill of Frenchtown; defensive backs Bryant Johnson of Glendive, Nick Walters of Florence and Ted Wells of Havre.
Samson has also signed linebackers Sterling Shearer of Burlington, Wash., and Cory Sitch of Helena and Shane Stroebe of Colstrip — both of whom are transferring from North Dakota State College of Science, a junior college in Wahpeton, N.D.
Eamon is the reigning Southwestern A Divisional wrestling 215-pound weight-class champion and earned All-Conference honors last fall as an offensive lineman. He is expected to play on the defensive side at MSU.
